Profile – Experience

Airwave designed, built and operates the largest public safety radio communications network in the world, delivering critical voice and data communications to organisations that provide vital public services. This includes police, fire and ambulance services, as well as local authorities, utilities and transport providers.

Our highly resilient TETRA network in Great Britain was purpose built to meet the needs of the emergency services and has been operational since 2001. We focus solely on public safety business and we have built up considerable expertise over the past 14 years.

Along with providing an enhanced service on the main network for our public safety customers during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games, we are also providing and operating a separate TETRA network for the London Organising Committee 0f the Olympic and Paralympics Games Ltd (LOCOG) and their 18,000 volunteers.

Kelvin Connect, an Airwave Group company, provides the world’s most advanced mobile data capture systems for the law enforcement and healthcare markets, designed in partnership with industry professionals to ensure significant operational efficiencies and returns on investment.

The Airwave team participating in the SALUS project comprises of three nominated individuals supported by the extensive engineering capabilities that a company of Airwave’s stature brings. Airwave’s active involvement in various European and international bodies relating to TETRA and the operation of public safety networks along with its increasing involvement in other countries further enhances our knowledge and understanding of this exacting environment.

Main Role in the SALUS Project

Airwave will contribute to the SALUS project with its significant understanding of the exacting service requirements of the public safety customer for its critical voice and data communications. Ensuring that the scenarios and use cases accurately reflect both today’s and tomorrow’s requirements of the PPDR communities.
