University of Twente

Profile – Experience

The University of Twente (UTWENTE) is an entrepreneurial research university, located in the east of the Netherlands. The UTWENTE employs 3000 people and offers a wide variety of courses to approximately 8000 students. Focus points include Telematics; research in this area is organized within the Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT). Within the chair Design and Analysis of Communication Systems (DACS), which is a part of the CTIT institute, researchers have many years of experience in the areas of fixed, mobile & wireless (inter)networking, end-to-end QoS signalling and provisioning, mobility and routing in logical access (overlay) networks, network and service management, and performance and dependability evaluation. DACS hosts E-Quality, a national expertise centre for research on networking and quality of service (in which the three technical universities in the Netherlands, TNO-ICT, and CWI participate. Its expertise can be applied within the activities of this project.

Main Role in the SALUS Project

The UTWENTE will extend its knowledge by contributing on investigating and providing solutions on seamless and fast Proxy Mobile IP based handover mechanism and on flow based intrusion detection within the context of PPDR wireless. In particular, UTWENTE will contribute on designing, implementing and evaluating methods, features, components and protocols that ensure the support of: (1) secure, seamless and fast Proxy Mobile IP based handover mechanism in multi-interface and multicast broadband PPDR based networks, (2) flow based Intrusion Detection within the context of PPDR wireless (multicast and mobile) systems.
